How to have a BIG IMPACT on Social Media.

1.  Identify your audience and identify with your audience.

Who is your target customer? Picture the perfect person in your head that your services help. What does that person look like? Is it a guy or gal? How old are they? How much money do they make? Where do they live? Picture this person in detail. Now where does this person spend time? Which social media sites would they spend time on?

Go there and target your posts to that one person. You can broaden your targeting later if you need to, but there is no reason to reach a wider audience if most of that audience is never going to pay you for your services.

This is a two part step. Don’t stop at seeking that person. Be vulnerable and open in your posts. Share how you had the same or similar problem and about your personal journey to find the answer. 

2.  Connect and engage

Now that you’ve got your perfect customer’s attention, get to know them. Don’t just talk at them; answer their comments, address any concerns they have, ask them what they need. Keep track of their questions and needs so you can add to your services and come back to them with solutions for those as well.

Photos, graphs, charts… use visuals in posts to attract your audience. Visuals get more shares and are more noticeable. You can make professional images with text, graphs, infographics, in custom sizes for free on It’s so easy! 

Be sure your images are the best sizes for social media sites where you will be posting them. Your images and posts on social media should have a good description with key phrases (not just key words, specific key phrases), you can Google different phrases and see what suggestions pops up. I always check in the Pinterest search because it’ll autofill with key phrases that get searched the most. Include attention grabbing headlines, and a few hashtags. Hashtags should not be too general like #parenting. That’s not going to bring you any traffic. You want to narrow your niche down as narrow as you can and be as specific as possible; #natualmoms #homeschoolingmom #crunchymama. Type some hashtags into Google, Twitter or Instagram, see what is being used. 

4.  Analyze your most effective social media posts

Use the analytics built in to your social media platforms or in your social media scheduler. Look at the posts that are getting the most attention. Which ones got the most shares, comments, views? Why is that? Did it have a fantastic graphic? Did you ask an engaging question? Did you use specific keywords or hashtags?

Recreate more posts in the same way. However, be sure the reaction to these posts are leading back to you. For example, your weekly Facebook Funny Meme always gets the most views and shares, but  is it bringing more of your target customers back to your website? Choose to recreate posts that are most effective at meeting your goals.

5.  Explore your most shared content

If your most shared content is not bringing in your target customers, you may want to scrap those posts, even if they are popular. There’s no sense in reaching a wider audience when it’s the wrong audience that will never pay for your services. Focus your energies on those posts that get shared in the right places. Remember your target customer and where they hang out? Go back to picturing that customer and create content they will engage with and share. 

6.  Build a social media tool box

Creating great content and posting it regularly is extremely time consuming. Manage your time by using automated tools to streamline and simplify. There are so many tools out there!

There are Social Media Creation Tools that can help you create images fast, with quality photos, graphs, or illustrations, and even keep a consistent theme. If you have a certain style, font, or color scheme, you can create images with these preset to save time.

There are also many social media schedulers make it quick and easy to schedule posts ahead of time to go out each day, a few times a week, or whenever works best for you. You don’t need to be on social media constantly and your audience will see you are posting and active at the hours they are on.

7.  Join chats, groups, communities. Find your peeps!

If you are interested in it, somewhere out there, there is a group. If you can’t find one, make one! Check out Facebook groups, Linkedin, Twitter, if you’re a blogger there are plenty of blogging websites that offer support group in your niche. Join your local chamber of commerce or search for a Meetup in your area. Go to a business conference in your niche and make friends. 

It’s so important to have support from other like minded awesome people. Even if their business or niche is not exactly the same as yours, if you have a similar audience you can share each other’s content, offer referrals to each other, or just encourage, share knowledge, and keep each other accountable and on track. I find a small group, less than 20 offers the best, plenty to share, and small enough for real relationships to flourish. After all, your much more likely to want to help a good friend’s growth than a stranger and vice versa.

5 Time Management Secrets Mom Bloggers Need

Working from home is a great opportunity! You can get your work done, but still have lots of family time; stop to make lunch, get in a few minutes of playtime with your kids.. wait, did I say get work done? How does that happen exactly? With a toddler hanging on me and another kid asking me for snacks every ten minutes? Every mom, especially work from home moms could use some time management secrets.

Here are 5 time management tips for bloggers to help you manage your time as a mom blogger to boost productivity, have less stress, and be able to spend quality time with your family. That’s why you’re home, right?

5 Time Management Secrets Mom Bloggers Need

  1. Give your kids undivided attention first. When your kids wake up as well as when they come home after being out, give them at least 30 minutes of your complete attention. I mean complete! Put the iphone away, shut your laptop and focus on those wonderful kids you work so hard for. Let them know you have a set amount of time that is all theirs, but then you need to work and they need to not interrupt you. It’s healthy for kids to learn respect for others’ space just as they like to be left alone sometimes. It’s also good for them to see you working, focusing on a passion of yours, learning new things, working toward your personal goals; all things you want them to be able to do.
  2. Schedule a Power Hour– Get up earlier if you are not already one to be up before the kids. I am not a morning person, so this isn’t easy for me, but I make myself get up and have one hour of ultra productive time where I only focus on promoting published posts and especially engaging on social media, commenting on and sharing other blogs. I have a list I go down so I don’t get off track and I only do those things on my list each and every morning. I don’t always get through the whole list in that hour, but until that hour is up, I don’t move on to anything else that needs doing. -Get the exact list I use here-
  3. Check your email last– Get the most important things done on your to-do list first and only check email once a day. Skim for anything important and set a later time to clear out junk once or twice a week. Email can be a big drain on time. It should work for you, not the other way around. Unsubscribe from anything you don’t use, as in those emails you don’t open regularly. Unclutter your email as much as possible.
  4. Follow your own rhythm– Every person is different, if you’re a night owl, stay up and write. I have bursts of motivation where I don’t want to stop and sleep and then days where my brain just does not want to function. I used to try to force myself to sleep, but now I use that motivation. I try to be as productive as possible during those energetic days, planning posts ahead of time so I can give myself a break when I’m just plain tired and enjoy extra cuddle time with the kids without feeling anxious about not being productive then. Let your family know what to expect from you no matter how you work and make sure they are okay with it
  5. Focus on one social media platform at a time– Don’t get overwhelmed trying to keep up with all social media. Find what works best for you and focus your efforts on those few. Schedule posts to each of those regularly, but choose one in particular each week to concentrate on growing and engaging. Don’t try to be everywhere at once. People can tell when you’re just link dropping and not engaged.

There is always so much to be done in blogging and it’s important to schedule your time so you can be productive when you do have time to step away from the kids and devote yourself to your blog. However, it’s equally important that you set aside quality time to be completely present with your family. Get up earlier if you are not already an early riser. I am not a morning person, so this isn’t easy for me, but I make myself get up and have one hour of ultra productive time where I only focus on promoting published posts and especially engaging on social media. This is the time I comment on other blogs and posts as well as sharing my own blog posts posts by others.

I have a list I go down so I don’t get off track and I only do those things on my list each and every morning. I don’t always get through the whole list in that hour, but until that hour is up, I don’t move on to anything else that needs doing, especially checking email.

It’s all too easy to get distracted, fix things on your blog that need tweaking, or spend too much time sorting through emails, most of which are junk. Before you know it, half the day is gone and, though you were busy, busy, busy, what have you to show for it? Perhaps your to do list is a bit smaller, but did you promote and network; the two things that will really bring growth and profit?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock somewhere far from civilization, you know what social media is and have some idea that you need social media to be successful in business.  If you’re reading this you might also be wondering how your small business can take advantage of these platforms. But, which are the best social media platforms for business?

It’s not hard to sign up for social media platforms and automate posts to go out on a schedule, but will this drive flocks of customers your way? Probably not.

Social media is more than just a place to dump your content and hope that it will be seen and loved. It’s about having authentic interactions with your customers, prospects and even employees. It’s important that you choose the social media platforms that work best for your business. Each platform has its own unique audience, so be certain that you speak directly to the intended audience. What and how you post on Twitter will not be the same as Facebook, for instance.


LinkedIn is a community for professionals. Individuals use it as a public, online resume available to be found by prospective employers or as an opportunity to find prospects. LinkedIn usage is especially high among educated, high earners; making $75,000 or more a year.

Your Company Description page should be clear, professional, and informative for visitors looking to learn about your business. Keep your articles professionally oriented. Use Linkedin to talk about significant new hires, provide industry insight, and promote press releases.


Twitter only allows you to  share short text updates of 280 characters or fewer, along with videos, images, links, polls and more. It’s quick and easy to interact with other users or businesses by mentioning their usernames in your posts. Sometimes this can get you noticed by bigger businesses, however, only 22% of U.S. adults are using this platform, according to the Pew Research Center in 2019. It is good to have a presence here, but, you should use this site to send a quick message which ultimately gets clicks to your website.


Facebook still dominates social networks on the web, according to Smart Insights 2017 study. Chances are pretty good that your customers are actively using Facebook. According to the Pew Research Center, Facebook usage is almost equally spread between gender, income levels and location. Where it differs is by education, as only 56% of those with high school or less education utilize this platform versus 77% for college graduates. Age is another differentiating factor, only 36% of those age 65+ utilize the platform, while 88% for those between the ages of 18-29.

Create a Facebook business page and use it to promote your brand and tone. Your posts should include major company announcements, industry insights and images and videos which show off your business.


Pinterest is a visual social media platform based entirely on photo and video posts. Many businesses overlook this platform initially, as contrary to what I just said, it’s not actually a social media platform, at least, not entirely. More importantly, it’s a search engine. You wouldn’t spend time and money creating an amazing website for your business and not put it on Google, right? If you’re not on Pinterest, you’re missing out big time. This platform is essential for bloggers and businesses that blog to drive traffic to their websites. You must have clear, visually appealing images, optimized for the most conversions to make it worth your time.  If you need help with this, I am at your service.

YouTube, Instagram, and SnapChat, are also visual social media platforms that are in the most popular category. These platforms are not ideal for all businesses. If you can visually capture your products or services, then these social media sites could be a great option for you.

Putting Your Brand Out There

Each social media post, whether it’s sharing a press release, blog post, photo or video, or just a comment, should provide a positive interaction with potential customers. You never want to only self promote on any one platform. By consistently managing your social media platforms you will be able to develop feedback for your brand and stay aware of any improvements needed as well as get to know your customers so you can better serve their needs. The way you conduct yourself, what you share, how (and if) you respond to others over any social media, is a reflection of your business.

Employee Interaction

If you have employees, they are your best brand advocates. Encourage them to add their current position at your company to their profiles. This will automatically make them followers of your page, and will feature your Company Page on their profiles, helping to drive more traffic your way. Encourage them, also, to take action on company posts as it increases your reach to their personal network. Don’t be afraid to ask them to “like” or share the post if they agree. The more reach, the more engagement and interactions to promote your business. Don’t forget to warn them that as representatives of your company, they should conduct their own personal social media professionally.

It’s impossible to be great and ever present on every social media platform there is, at least, without a large budget and full time social media team.
